the REFERENCE WORD and CONTEXTUAL CLUES

HI guys..i actually do not know what to share with all of you as i'm thinking  that i've a lot of work to be settle.. CTU 101, MGT 162 and so on..i do admit that i am not paying 100% attention toward the lesson but i do learn something..i;m sorry Miss Zu but i do really tired..ok..lets get to what i've learn today..it is about reference word..it is used to replace other word or phrases to avoid repitition..while,,contextual clues is use to help us to guess the meaning of word..add, these clues are given in a sentence or a passage..here are some example but i do hope that Miss Zu allowed me to copy the example from her slide..i hope so..:-)

reference word :

A computer, like any other machine, is used because it does certain jobs better

and more efficiently than humans. It can receive more information and process it

faster than any human.  The speed at which a computer works means it can

replace weeks or even months of pencil-and-paper work. Therefore, computers

are used when the time saved offsets their cost, which is one of the many

reasons they  are used so much in business industry, and                               

research.

WRITING LESSON..

today was the writing..i do learn what is needed in a perfect essay..we should have the introduction, the body essay and the conclusion..Miss Zu represent it by a big mac burger..it makes all of us hungry as we do not have our breakfast yet..in the intoduction,,we should have the general statement and the thesis statement..a good thesis statement must link with the general statement and have subpoint but Miss Zu not encourage us to put subpoint in our essay as we might have repition..here are some example of a good thesis statement :

2. As I look back on my reasons for becoming a teacher, there are three reasons that stand out.  They are: my love for the English language, my innate interest in how people learn, and my desire to help other people .

here is the key feature considered when writing thesis statement :

• states the main idea of the essay in a complete sentence, not in question.
  ~ is usually at the end of an introduction
  ~ states an opinion or attitude on a topic.  It doesn’t just state the topic, itself.
  ~ often lists subtopics

the VALENTINE day

today we did have our speaking..almost like with the last week task, this week task would be on making dialogue and interesting scene on given specific thing..but today, i was not perfoming with my real group members as i have been transfered to Ujang's group..although that this is not my real group..i do wishes that i will give and perform our best..our group was given a branches of key...we all do wonder what scene would we perform on making a key into other thing..then the idea come..we plan to make the key as jewellery ( earing ) as a present on valentine day..Mas would like to be The BabyGirl while Ujang will be The BabyBoy..the goldsmith character was will be hold by Hisham and Apis and I would be the people of Islamic Religion Department..while discussing,,everyone looked a kind of shame but when it come to perform in front..they all were just amazing espacially Mas and Ujang..well done guys..

prewriting technique

the class today was started by the question " had you ever have any prewriting technique before you do your essay?? " asked by Miss Zu..i do answer '' of course not ''..but, its only in my heart..i do have but it is a not proper one and it's like to be a rought draft with a titlt in the middle and many arrows branches from it..and today,,i did learn the proper prewriting technique..they are : 1) brainstorming 2) clustering 3) freewriting and 4) quick writing..i did fall with freewriting technique..when i'm asked to write a passage using freewriting technique, then it come to be like this :

i am really thinking of home..my home sweet home..i don't know any else to write as i'm really thinking of 

going home..i've been stuck here for almost a month..since i make my first and foremost step 

in this university on 21st May ago..i wonder what would be my parents expression if i suddenly stand in front 

of the door?? i cannot imagine..are they might be shock..i don't know but i am really thinking of going home..

 

the NOUN lesson

today we have learn about noun..but before the lesson, the class was started by the intoduction session from the three new students..i recognize something weird..i don't know but i thought that Miss Zu was kind of angry with us..she sometime rise her voice..maybe she was tired with our attitude that  to shy in presenting in front of the class or maybe because we are too noisy when our friends presenting in front..today also,,we started to have a late comer..but fortunately that Miss Zu said that it is "better late than never"..then,,the class was continue with some pretest on noun..OMG..i only scored 2 out of 10..then i know..I MUST DO SOMETHING..

P.RAMLEE : It's a new generation

I thought that today i will learn about noun that Miss Zu ask us to find any information on it..but, everyone was shock that we are asked to imitate any scene from any P.Ramlee's movie..What a SURPRISE..!! my level of shock reach the top when Miss Zu said that she only gives us half an hour to discuss on it and we have to present it today..! i'm dead..we divided into six group and my group was the only group with seven members in it..while discussing our task, Afiq go for drawing turn for our group to perform..God!!we are the third group to perform..we our turn arrived..we do perform our best and thank God that we have perform better..at the end of the class,,most of the groups voted that our group is the best! i feel so GREAT..

nothing was best today..but today i do learn about something new..Reading Skills..and because of i do nothing best to share to all of you today..i just want to share about what i've gain today..

Scanning Technique

• this is a selective reading skill to locate facts and answer to specific question
• to save time you do not need to read every word on the pages
• you can scan a timetable, pages of a dictionary, charts, table etc

Skimming Technique

• reading this is a reading skill employed to obtain hte general idea of a text, to fing out the writers point of view and to see how the content in a passage are arranged
• when a text or a passage is too long and we have limited time, we use this technique
• when skimming, look for key words and phrases, the heading or subheading for the general idea of the passage

today, i also learn many new word but i do attract to the word ' bibliophobia ' which is fear of book..i think that i'm not a bibliophobian because i do love book and read..peace ("_)

   

the ICE breaking

                              Fauzan And Me..hehe

today was the ice breaking session..but this one was kind different with the other introduction session that i ever had..we were ask to intoduce and describe our friend..not ourself..beside..we also have to give out three facts about him or her which one of the fact must be a fake..my partner today was Fauzan.. when our turn arrived..we got to go the front of the class and start describing each other..when it is time to guess the fake fact,,no one got the answer until the last trial by Mel..of course she got the answer because two already wrong and one choice left..i feel great especially when Miss Zu said that we got her by the fact '' We known each other since we are in form three during the camp organize by Rakan Muda''..actually.. it is fake at all..

the first class

after MAT 112 class was over..my friends and i,,the BM112 students,,rushing (not really actually because there is 30 minutes gap between the two classes) to the Sri Peria Hall from Ilmuan block for our next class,,BEL 120..
huh..it is so tired..make the first step into the hall..i feel relief because of the UK like temperature..so cool..but, i was thinking that are we gonna study in a hall..?without table..?then,,the lecturer for the subject came in..wow..the way she wear her scarf,,i thought that she is a very up to date person..so elegance..then the class started..different with the other lecturer,,she introduce herself at the end of the class..Miss Zu..afiq was the star for the class..he attracted Miss Zu attention just by just asking a question..''miss, what is your name?''..what a good day for him..the whole class was blissful..with the caring and talkative lecturer,,very sporting student..i think this class will be the most favourite class ever. .
